The minimum bond amount in immigration court is $1,500, but amounts of $5,000 to $7,000 are more typical.

A typical immigration court proceeding could take anywhere from 2-4 years. Provided that the defendant attends their court hearings, regardless of whether or not the final determination is in the defendant’s favor, the bail money will eventually recirculate back to the EICBP.

We can use the community bond fund to provide bail for another individual when needed.

The EICBP was officially formed as a 501 (c)(3) charitable nonprofit in late March 2017. Thus far, donations to the community bond fund have been fully supported by individual donors, faith-based organizations and a few immigrant based organizations. Our support is made possible by donors like YOU. The work of the Immigration Advocacy Coalition of Iowa (IACI) (organizations linked below) are to act as referring partners and supporters of the work we do. The dollars allocated towards bond clients are NOT direct contributions from the IACI, rather, the coalition is intended as a collaborative approach to welcome and advocate for our many immigrant neighbors.
